DEBATE:  Name the Top Tech Gizmos we for need Radical Life Extension. My opinion? Artificial Hearts

What specific medical technology advance do you think humanity needs, to drastically increase our life expectancy?

Stem cells?

Cancer vaccine?

Nanotechnology?

My vote is for an excellent Artificial Heart

Why?

Heart disease is the #1 killer world-wide - slaying 7.25 million annually.  This is 4x more than HIV/AIDS, and 5X more than tuberculosis.

The human heart is a faulty organ. Weakest part of our meatbag - except tonsils and appendix.

Artificial Hearts have existed since 1969, but they only function for about 5 years, and they cost $100,000-$300,000 to install.  We need an upgrade -

I want Artificial Hearts that last a Century.

Plus, we need affordable robotic devices to install them, like the compact surgical booth in Prometheus…  We don’t want our wallets gouged eternally by error-prone humans.

Agree? Disagree?

Is there another Medical Gizmo that you deem more crucial to our longevity?  What is it?

The advent of more and more sophisticated wearable power supplies will enable artificial heart technology to be less cost prohibitive and more readily available.  I do agree with robotic surgery as the precision alternative.  WiFi monitoring would also be a must for updates and firmware loading.  I agree with this great article and other than reverse engineering the brain, the heart and telomerolgy (DNA telomere studies) should be the primary foci.  Of course daily diet, exercise and healthy lifestyle would assist us all in the quest of overcoming death as we know it today.
