Hank Pellissier is Founder/Executive Director of ImmortaLife.info. Previously, he was the founder/director of Transhumanity.net. Before that, he was Managing Director of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technology (ieet.org).
He’s the author of Invent Utopia Now: Transhumanist Suggestions for the Pre-Singularity Era and Why is the IQ of Ashkenazi Jews so High? - scientific factors that influence intelligence. Additionally, he edited the e-book anthology Human Destiny Is To Eliminate Death - essays, rants, and arguments on immortalism He also co-founded the USA Longevity Party, and he’s a blogger for the World Future Society (wfs.org).
A journalist, Hank was the Local Intelligence columnist for the New York Times (SFBay edition), he’s a contributor to GreatSchools.org, he was a daily columnist for Salon.com, and a weekly colomnist for SfGate.com. He’s written 100+ futurist articles for IEET, Hplusmagazine.com, Transhumanity.net, and the World Future Society, occasionally under his pseudonym, Hank Hyena.
Hank was the founder/director of two non-profit organizations, the Hyena Comedy Institute – where he taught classes and produced 80+ shows – and The Kids’ Co-op Inc., a non-profit that launched two SF preschools and donated funds, food, and school supplies to ten foreign locales, primarily The Philippines, where seven hectares of agricultural land were purchased to enable a Mangyan tribal village to self-subsist.
As a performance artist and poet, the SF Chronicle labeled Hank “San Francisco’s performance art bad boy.” His poetry is anthologized in The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry, he’s been a SF Poetry Slam co-champion, and his performance pieces have toured eleven states and six international countries. As an events producer, Hank instigated the SF DADA Festival, the SF Buddhist Festival, the Bay Area Muslim Performance Festival, the world’s first Atheist Film Festival, and North Beach Street Utopia.
Hank’s undergraduate degree is in History and he holds a Masters in Humanities/Religious Studies. His hobbies include traveling and exercising with his triathlete wife and two hyperactive daughters.
