Entry for MILE activist contest, by Anton Kulaga
*The deadline on the contest is now extended to January 3rd.
“If you were to receive a check in the mail with $5,000 to inform as many people as possible about the desirability and the prospects for indefinite life extension, to get them interested in the people, projects and organizations working directly or indirectly toward indefinite life extension, then how might you spend it?”
If I had $5,000 to promote Indefinite Life Extension, I would….
If I had this money I would spend it on establishing crowdfunding contests for longevity projects.
There were already several successful crowdfundings (one of which was coordinated by me) so we already have success stories, accumulated some experience and people know that it is possible to get their projects funded this way.
For the contest we can establish two boards that will first consult founders on their campaigns and then will assess the projects.
The first board will be a crowdfunding one ( I keep in touch with founders of some other crowdfunding campaigns so it will be not hard to make it). It will consist of founders of successful longevity crowdfunding campaigns and will help projects assess the organizational side of their campaigns.
The second board will be experts (scientists and famous longevity evangelists) who will consult on scientific and advocacy sides of things.
It will also not be hard to involve organizations that will double money that will be donated (I think Methuselah Foundation and LongeCity maybe willing to do this, as they already did this in the past but of course we have to ask them to be sure). We can involve organizations outside of the Longevity community like scientific crowdfunding platforms.
Regarding the money, I think we can spend it by giving to the best crowdfunding campaigns on three nominations:
- Best Longevity / regenerative medicine research project ( 2500$ )
Best Longevity Hardware/Software project ( 1500 $ )
Best Longevity advocacy/art/education project ( 1000 $ )
