Within 50 to 100 years from now, you will be dead, and quite likely, for many of you, far sooner. While you approach your death, you will grow weaker and sicker in physical stamina, the 5 senses, and mental acuity.
The world of medicine is proving painfully slow at curing or treating much of any major human ailments, and should such breakthroughs be available, no national economic systems show that they can financially support the aging populations they have now, even though those who will live into their 70s or older are just a small percentage of most nation’s populations, even in projected years.
The alternative is that we push for the development of Artificial General Intelligence and hope this species allows us to evolve and avoid death as we know it.
It is logical that any Transhumanist who wants a choice as to if and when to die, and for that of their loved ones, that they strongly support development of AGI as humanity’s greatest endeavor, and to push for production of AGI in an expedited fashion.
Sadly, most medical breakthroughs will remain either behind a global bureaucratic mire as nice promises, or in other cases, reserved for the decreasing class of people who will be able to afford expensive medical procedures, especially those which are on the cutting edge.
Development of AGI should be a global effort like none other in history. It really is our only shot at possible immortality in any form.
Since you will be dead in 50-100 years, and increasingly decrepit as those years pass, you can’t afford to wait on deciding the proper course regarding AGI, and that includes the wealthy and powerful.
